Give your cat's stress the attention it actually deserves with our science backed calming chews. These tasty, chicken flavored soft chews are formulated with Ashwagandha, Valerian Root, and Melatonin to calm the brain, release built up tension in the body, and help your cat settle into real, lasting rest.

Calms the Brain First

Our soft chews start with Ashwagandha, a plant used for centuries to help the body handle stress better. It works to turn down the stress response in your cat's brain, so a stressful moment doesn't spiral into panic or overstimulation. L-Theanine works alongside it, taking the edge off tension while keeping your cat alert and like themselves.

Releases Tension From the Body

A calm mind isn't enough if the body is still tense. Valerian Root is a natural calming root used for centuries to help built up tension in the body settle, so a keyed up cat can actually relax.

Restores Deep, Lasting Rest

Even with a calm brain and a relaxed body, real calm only holds if your cat actually gets to rest. Melatonin is the body's natural rest signal, helping regulate your cat's day and night rhythm so they settle deeper into real rest, the kind that keeps stress hormones low day after day. L-Tryptophan and Vitamin B1 support this from the inside, giving the body what it needs to stay relaxed and keep the nervous system in balance.

Fit for Your Cat

Our calming chews are suitable for cats 12 weeks and older. Simply follow the daily amount based on your cat's weight to make sure they're getting the right amount of active ingredients.

"Adopted a rescue and she's had the sneezing and watery eyes thing on and off ever since. Vet just said it's common with shelter cats only resulting in a bill. Tried a couple things that didn't really do much. Started giving her these chews and honestly she just seems calmer overall, and the flare ups aren't as bad or as often. Wish I'd found this sooner instead of just watching her deal with it."

"We get a lot of cats in with the sneezing and watery eyes thing, it's just part of taking in shelter cats. We started using Calm Start Chews instead of L-Lysine products with a few of our fosters and the flare ups just stopped showing up. Makes sense honestly, since stress and a weaker immune system are the biggest triggers anyway."

Why Your Cat's Sneezing and Goopy Eyes Keep Coming Back.

It's not bad luck, and it's not something you did wrong. Here's what's actually happening, and what actually helps.

IS THIS A PATTERN YOU KEEP SEEING?

If your cat's eyes clear up for a while, then start watering again. If the sneezing seems to disappear, then comes right back a few weeks later, you're not imagining it, and you're not doing anything wrong.

This is an extremely common pattern, especially in cats who came from a shelter.

It clears up, you relax, and then it's back again like nothing ever changed.

WHAT'S ACTUALLY CAUSING THE FLARE UPS?

Here's what's actually going on. Your cat's body reacts to stress by producing a hormone called cortisol. Big moments like a move, a new pet in the house, or even a vet visit can trigger this.

That stress response temporarily weakens your cat's natural defenses.

And for a lot of cats, especially ones who spent time in a shelter, that's exactly when the sneezing and watery eyes show back up.

It's not bad luck or a random bug going around. It's stress, working on your cat's body from the inside, again and again.

WHY CALM START CHEWS WORKS DIFFERENTLY

WHY CALM START CHEWS WORKS DIFFERENTLY

Most calming products for cats focus on just one thing, blocking symptoms after they've already shown up. But that doesn't get to what's actually driving the flare ups.

Calm Start Chews works from the inside, in three steps. First, Ashwagandha helps calm the stress response in your cat's brain, so a stressful moment doesn't spiral into overstimulation. Then Valerian Root helps release the tension that's built up in the body, so a keyed up cat can actually relax. Finally, Melatonin helps your cat settle into real, deep rest, the kind that keeps stress hormones low day after day.

Calm brain. Relaxed body. Real rest. That's what actually helps the flare ups stay away.

"My drama queen approves

We love these calming chews for cats for those never ending flare ups. Two of my cats think Purr & Bloom is a gourmet treat from the gods... and my third cat looks at me like I've just personally betrayed him. He's a food critic and a drama queen. The chew is soft but on the bigger side, so I break it into small pieces and give it to him the same way I used to sneak him his meds. Since every cat's different

She loves them and they help

I have to break them up and give her two, since she's a medium sized, plump, very solid bodied cat. She gobbles them up, and they're knocking back that constantly drippy eye. She used to have her own special food dish for her old chews, but now she'll only eat with my other kitty. It's become her special treat, the one that only she gets, and she likes that too.

He made it through the worst winter yet

I've used this product as a supplement for both my indoor and outdoor cats. My outdoor cat managed to survive this horrible winter, even though he suffers from a chronic upper respiratory issue. He gets veterinary care as needed. He was born feral, but he's lost all of that wildness now and is very fond of me, as I am of him. I'm very happy with this product and will keep using it. A little pricey, but worth it for Luna

We got this for our cat Luna (pictured). She used to have these sneezing attacks that would come out of nowhere and last for days, so we started giving her Purr & Bloom alongside her other supplements. We give her the chews as directed, split between morning and night. Within two weeks, her energy levels seemed to pick up a bit, and after a month it's settled back around where she normally is, which for her is a good, steady place to be. Taste wise, Luna gets the chicken flavored chews and hasn't had any issue with them, she goes right for them like a treat. Value wise, I'll keep buying this since it seems to be helping her stay calmer overall. It's a little pricey, but definitely worth it. Overall I'm happy with it, and Luna clearly doesn't mind either.

A decade of picky cats, finally something they all eat

I've been giving my cats supplements for close to 10 years now, and with 8 of them in the house, finding something every single one of them will actually eat with their dinner is not easy. Since switching to Purr & Bloom, every one of my cats goes for it without a fuss, even my pickiest ones. What sold me is that it actually feels like a company that cares about quality. My oldest boy used to have these sneezing attacks and goopy eyes that would flare up out of nowhere, and he'd lose interest in his food for days when it happened. Since we started him on Purr & Bloom, the flare-ups have calmed down a lot and he's back to finishing his dinner like normal. I've spent a lot of money over the years chasing products that seemed great at first and then quietly changed for the worse. This one has stayed consistent, and that's exactly why I keep coming back. Already recommending it to everyone in my cat rescue group.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fair worry, most cat parents have a chew graveyard somewhere in a drawer. That's exactly why we built these around a chicken scent and chicken flavor cats can't say no to. Most cats take them straight from your hand like a treat, no fuss at all. If yours is extra stubborn, crumble one over her wet food and she won't even know it's there.

Because L-Lysine was never really solving the problem. It's been the default recommendation for years, but a growing body of veterinary research has actually found no evidence that lysine prevents flare-ups or helps cats recover faster, and some studies even point the other way. Most lysine supplements also only try to manage symptoms after a flare-up has already started. Triple Calm Defense works upstream. Ashwagandha, Valerian Root, and Melatonin work together to calm the stress response that triggers flare-ups in the first place, instead of chasing symptoms once they show up.

Most cat parents notice changes within the first two to three weeks. Less sneezing, clearer eyes, a cat who just seems more like herself again. Stay consistent for the full 30 days, that's when it really clicks.

Yes, and that's usually how most cat parents find us in the first place. The sneezing attacks, watery eyes, and congestion almost always share the same root cause. When you calm the stress response, everything tends to settle down together.

We'd actually recommend it, especially in a multi-cat household or if one cat is already showing symptoms. A lot of cats carry the virus dormant without ever showing signs, until something triggers it. A new pet, a change in routine, a stressful week, any of it can bring symptoms out in a cat who seemed completely fine the day before.

Most cats with FHV-1 never get an official diagnosis, it's honestly one of the most underdiagnosed things in cat health. The virus is estimated to be carried by the vast majority of cats, especially anyone who's ever passed through a shelter, and it usually just sits dormant until stress wakes it back up. So if you're seeing the occasional sneeze, watery eyes, or congestion that comes and goes without a clear reason, especially around anything stressful like a move, a new pet, or a vet visit, that pattern is a pretty strong sign, diagnosed or not. You don't need a lab result to start calming the trigger behind it. A vet visit can confirm what's going on, but plenty of cat parents start here first because the symptoms already tell the story.

It's rare, but it happens, some cats are just stubborn like that. If yours won't take to it, you're covered by our guarantee, no hassle, no hoops.

This is exactly why Calm Start Chews exists.

Think about what your rescue went through before they ever fell asleep in your house. A shelter full of strange cats. A transport crate. A spay or neuter surgery, because most rescues won't hand a cat over without it. Then a new home, new smells, new people, a whole new routine.

To you that's the happy ending. To their body it's stress stacked on stress. And a lot of rescue cats are already carrying the herpes virus asleep in their nerves from where they came from. Stress is what wakes it up. That's the sneezing. That's the watery eye you keep wiping every morning.

Those first weeks home are when it tends to show up, which is why calming the stress response matters more than chasing symptoms after they've already started.
